The Dublin Paediatric Dental Practice was established in 1992 by Dr Billy Fenlon at the Northbrook Clinic in Ranelagh, Dublin. It is the longest established Practice limited to Dentistry for Children in the city.
We offer a comprehensive range of dental services to children and teenagers up to 16 years of age. In addition to Dr Fenlon our team includes Martha in our office, Cathy and Ann Marie, Dental Nurses, and Claire our Dental Hygienist. These ladies have over 30 years of accumulated expertise in Paediatric Dental Practice!
The vast majority of our child patients have their dental care provided under local anaesthetic. A small number need Inhalation Sedation to help, and about 5% have their treatment carried out under General Anaesthetic at the Beacon Hospital Sandyford. This treatment is carried out on a day case basis, the anaesthesia is provided by Specialist Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetists from the children's hospitals in Dublin. Since 1992 we have successfully provided comprehensive dental treatment under General Anaesthetic to over 2000 patients.
Other Specialists such as Orthodontists (Braces) Endodontists(Root Canal) and Oral Surgeons (Surgery) work in the Northbrook Clinic. If our patients need their expertise, I refer, where necessary, to these colleagues.
Our aim is to help each child to attain optimal Dental Health. I believe that the habits developed in childhood stay with us for life. For this reason I advise visiting the Dentist as early as possible - to get the habits right! It is easier to come for a visit before any problems have occurred - the worst introduction to dentistry is when the child is in pain. I also believe that "prevention is better that a cure". My advice and treatments are with a view to correcting problems allied to avoiding repetition of the problem in future.
A careful introduction to Dentistry helps to prevent the developement of dental fear. Plan a visit before your child has a problem.
